Conway, Madeleine. The Museum of Modern Art Artists’ Cookbook, 155 Recipes, Conversations with Thirty Contemporary Painters and Sculptors. First Edition. 1977. Spiral-bound book in very good minus condition—a sticker has been removed from the upper front cover, causing abrasion to three letters in the title.
The writer Norman Douglas believed that a true cook is the perfect blend of artist and philosopher. A corollary to that idea is artists are frequently excellent cooks. This book includes recipes and interviews with thirty midcentury artists associated with the Museum of Modern Art. Simplicity is a recurring theme. Contributors include Robert Motherwell, Salvador Dali, Christo, and Andy Warhol.
“I think a really great restaurant can only be run by a madman, a man obsessed with quality—like an artist.”
--Robert Motherwell
